I have recently had the pleasure of painting some murals at a local nursing home " Wren Hall" which cares for patients with varying degrees of dementia. I have so far completed five murals. The first is a sky scene on the ceiling.

The Laundry Wall Mural

This mural was painted on a corridor. The door of the laundry was painted to make it less obvious to the residence of the home. The corridor has also been dressed with a real washing line and a variety of additional old fashion props

The Post Office

I am in the process of also painting a post office - the contrasting colours of red and green are great for patients with dementia. This mural is still in progress ....

The Sweet Shop

We fitted an artificial bay window which was filled with real jars of old fashioned sweets. Two small manikins of children dressed in old fashion clothes were placed next to the window, making the mural more tactile to the residence.

The Barber Shop

This mural was painted outside the hairdressing room of the nursing home. A real barber’s pole was added, which could that light up and rotated. Wooden Pelmets were painted and added to the mural to make them stand out.

These murals were designed by myself but I had some help from my artist friends Julia Morley and Sarah Gamble to get them painted in time for the homes opening day.

This is a little childs stool that I recently painted - It was for a lady whos sister purchased the stool many years ago. the stool was stripped and varnised. The pictures show the different stages of the painting.

The film Room

This was a commercial project that I did for a well known company to make the recreational area a little more interesting fot their staff. The companies
logo colour was used to emphasis detail on the art work.

TETRIS design in the "Den" - Games/TV room

I recently co-ordinated a community project for LEAP - Lincolnshire Employment Accommodation Project.

Working closely with 6 young adults we designed a mosaic which was constructed and then laid in the garden of the new LEAP building.

We also painted a wall mural in the new common room.

The projects took just under a week, every one was so enthusiastic even tho we had to brave to wonderful British summer rain to get the mosaic laid in time for the new build open day. Well done everyone!

This is an original piece of canvas art. It was inspired by a visit to the tranquil fishing village of Gardens Town in Scotland, although it wasn't very tranquil on the night I arrived. Listening to the waves smashing against the rocks as I lay in bed at night was the sole inspiration for this piece of art work.

Kitchen Mural

This kitchen was emphasised with a contemporary flower design. Painted in black and grey with silver detail giving a stunning over all effect. The design was varnished to ensure it was hard wearing and washable.

BRATZ WALL MURAL

This is a full size wall mural of the Bratz dolls that I recently painted for a lovely little girl called Georgia.
Every morning Georgia can wake up and enjoy playing in the magical fairy garden, under the watchful eye of her favorite Bratz dolls.

THEATRE STAGE SET - Voted set of the Year 2007 by NANDA

I have been busy designing and painting my first theatre set in 15 years "A Street Car Named Desire" for the Nottingham Arts Theatre. It was hard work to get done in such a sort space of time (1 week) but I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to find the time to do it again very soon.

I am so delighted that the set has been nominated for a prize this year! lets hope we win!

The first picture shows the set under construction, and the second when all the painting is finished and we have just started to dress the set with furniture. The set is of a run down flat in the French Quarter of New Orleans in America.

The other two photos show the set fully dressed and lit, the first showing the set in the daytime and the second how it would look in the evening, with the red neon lights flashing through the windows from the streets outside.

I would just Like to say to Kat, thanks for all the hard work and ideas in helping to design the set, together we made a great team and I would love to work with you again. Thanks also to David for all the construction work we would have never made it without you, and to everyone else who put in their hard work.

This textured canvas was inspired by my thoughts that "all things in their own way are beautiful".

This enchanting image is filled with layers of gorgeous, rich autumn colours, capturing the beauty of this otherwise overlooked creature. Texture was applied by using layers of acrylic paint with the use of brushes and a palette knife

The dragonfly has integrate hand painted detail with gold leaf speckles across the wings, making this underdog creature a thing of beauty.

Canvas Art

This is a large textured canvas inspired by lessons leaned in life. Texture was applied using a palette knife, the detail then added with acrylic paints.

SIZE 100CM X 80CM

The heart is painted bright red to make it stand out, symbolising that "love" is the most important thing of all. There are a few really small white hearts on the white background that can only be seen in certain light.

Portrait

This is a canvas that I decided to paint as a wedding present for some friends. I had never painted a portrait before but I just woke up one morning and thought "I want to paint a picture of Pat and Lou". It was defiantly a challenge and it took a little longer than I thought it would but I was quite pleased with the result. I have included the photo which I used as a reference, I changed the portrait slightly so that Lou would have her eyes open.

This large canvas was painted for a new baby's nursery so that if the the family move house they can take it with them. I painted this for a very special little man that I had the pleasure to also help come in to this world.

ROOM TRANSFORMATION

A long tome ago in a galaxy far far away....

This complete room transformation took just over a week. The walls were painted in orange with speckled gold giving a metallic effect. The ceiling represents the night sky. some of the detailing on the mural is painted with glow in the dark paint (only glows for a short period of time each night).

This whole room was lined with lining paper before decorating so it can just be stripped away if re decorating.

This Groovy Chick was painted in a young girls bedroom with her name painted on the handbag for that extra personal touch. This was painted in matt acrylic paint and lacquered for protection.

WALL MURAL

This is a mural that I painted for a friends little boy who liked Pokemon. On one wall I painted a large picture of 'Ash' and then on a smaller wall I painted a picture of a 'Pikachu'. This mural was painted with mat acrylic paint and a lacquered for protection and easy cleaning.
